Springtime Purple Hues

Katelyn and Colby’s dream was a Spring wedding with rustic elegance, purple hues, and spirited celebration. Their dream came true when they tied the knot on a gorgeous April afternoon at Della Terra.

Katelyn and Colby hail from Oklahoma, and wanted to share the Colorado mountain experience with each of their guests. From the moment we met them we loved them, and every minute of their destination wedding was filled with fun and celebration.

During the ceremony, Colby’s reaction to his bride coming down the aisle left no dry eye in the house. These two families love each other dearly, and both sets of parents have become close friends through the years. The joy of their families officially joining together through their children was palpable.

A classical guitarist played throughout the wedding. As a symbol of their connected love and support systems, Colby and Katelyn held a ceremonial planting of aspen trees during their ceremony. After being pronounced husband and wife, the newlyweds signed their marriage license and laughed their way through a rose petal exit. At the end of the petal toss, they hopped on the most adorably decorated golf cart and were whisked away to take stunningly romantic photos together.

Katelyn’s inspiration in her decor was rustic elegance, and she opted for shades of purple and gray in every element of the wedding day. From the bouquets to the dinner table linens, the guest book to the wedding cake, Katelyn’s theme was woven together beautifully.

Our favorite highlights from the day included:

  • Colby chose a custom-designed Jon Deere groom’s cake, a perfect representation of his personality and of life in Oklahoma!
  • During the reception guests were treated to a caricature artist who sketched creative portraits for all of the guests who participated.
  • Katelyn and Colby had a large wedding party of their closest friends and family. They took the time to cherish the morning with their bridesmaids and groomsmen while getting ready for the wedding. Later that afternoon, they had the opportunity to take some fun and stylish portraits together with their crew.
  • At Della Terra, you’re guaranteed to have wildlife wedding crashers. Look closely in a few of Katelyn and Colby’s photos to see the wild turkeys who photo-bombed their sweetheart shoot!

Katelyn and Colby, your love was evident in the joyful smiles you wore through every minute of your wedding day. Congratulations and best wishes!
