Sometimes the best inspiration comes from nature. As Colorado natives and self-proclaimed nature-lovers, Laura and John sought to bring their love of the mountains into every detail of their wedding. The result was a stunning display of Rocky Mountain wonder.
Laura and John were engaged on a secluded backpacking trip near Aspen, Colorado. The pair had a desire to express what they call their “inner outdoors” – man and woman nature – in their wedding decor. Over the course of wedding planning, they put together numerous ideas for their ceremony and reception. In the end, they crafted a most enchanting array of natural beauty for their guests to enjoy.
Our favorite details from this beautiful October wedding:
- Laura and John made sure to incorporate their outdoor passions into their decor. For fishing, they had a custom wedding ring holder and had one of the flower girls carry a fishing pole. For camping, they created unique cake table decor. For hunting, they had their groomsmen dress in fun camouflage vests and ties!
- Each of the wooden bases that accented the reception tables, as well as the multi-tier wooden platforms for their mini bundt cakes, were wood-burned with the couple’s initials.
- Instead of flowers, their amazing centerpieces were hand-crafted with golden and blackbeard wheat, star flowers and fresh lavender. Laura’s bouquet was made of golden wheat and pine cones, and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were made with golden wheat and fresh lavender. (We just loved how unique and seasonal those arrangements were! It was a Colorado mountain wedding dream!)
- The scent of lavender was woven throughout the event, from the bouquets to custom candles that the couple made together. Laura described the theme of her wedding as “love, the outdoors, and lavender”.
This wedding was extra-lovely, and we were so honored that Laura and John chose to celebrate at Della Terra. We hope that their wedding is an inspiration to every outdoorsy couple looking to channel the spirit of nature on their wedding day. Congratulations John and Laura, and here’s to many more mountain adventures together!
